Eastchester is located 15 miles north of New York City and is in the southern part of Westchester County. It includes the villages of Bronxville and Tuckahoe and covers an area of approximately five square miles. Eastchester is bound by Scarsdale on the north, New Rochelle on the east, Yonkers on the west, and Mount Vernon on the south.
This area is served by the Hutchinson River Parkway, Bronx River Parkway and Route 22. In addition, Metro North trains are accessible via the Crestwood, Tuckahoe and Bronxville stations.
At one time a rural farming community, Eastchester developed into a mainly residential, suburban community with the advent of the railroad. The town is very attractive due to its convenient proximity to New York City, the quality of its school system, local amenities, and small town charm.
When New York Citys population spilled north of Manhattan during the 19th century, one of the country hamlets in its path was Bronxville, which offered a few scattered structures near the Bronx River, a stop on the New York and Harlem Railroad. In the ensuing decades, the Village evolved from a tiny settlement of farm, orchard, estate and factory land to become one of the nations premiere metropolitan suburbs.
Bronxville is a community of graceful homes and streets, virtually all within walking distance of a train station and 28 minutes from the heart of Manhattan.
