About Mamaroneck, NY:

Mamaroneck consists of an unincorporated area, the Village of Larchmont and the Village of Mamaroneck. Both villages are self-governing. The Town provides services to the villages including recreation, property assessment and election supervision. The majority of the town’s land area is not within either village, constituting an unincorporated area, although a majority of the population lives within the villages. The town has a total area of 14 square miles.

Once the location of summer residence for families from New York City, Mamaroneck is now primarily a bedroom community for commuters to Manhattan.

Mamaroneck offers easy access to New York City. Travel to Grand Central via Metro North is 38 minutes.

The Mamaroneck Union Free School District serves both the Village of Larchmont and the unincorporated Town and Village of Mamaroneck. The district is comprised of four elementary schools, Chatsworth Ave, Central, Mamaroneck Ave and Murray Ave all serve grades K-5. The Hommocks Middle School serves grades 6 thru 8, Mamaroneck High School serves grades 9 thru 12.

Mamaroneck Avenue is the center of retail activity with a number of small shops and boutiques.

Mamaroneck’s harbor and its adjoining park provide ample recreational activities. The yacht basin is one of the busiest on Long Island Sound. Harbor Island Park activities include soccer tournaments, car shows, tennis tournaments and football games. The Winged Foot Golf Club was the location of the 1997 PGA Championship and the 1929, 1959, 1974, 1984 and 2006 U.S. Open.
